Daikou - Japanese Pickles Shop, Kyoto

This shop is located near Daitoku-ji temple and sells many types of Japanese pickles - otsukemono - in typical Kyoto style. Japanese pickles are an important part of the Japanese meals, and are served practically with every traditional meal. They are present on the table quite daily. This special shop sells only Japanese pickles.

We were invited to taste many types of pickles.

Classy!

A wonderful friend - and the Japanese hand gesture while taking a photo. It is called bui. (Masako-san, thank you for allowing me to post the photo.)
