Anpanman - Japanese Dessert-Headed Hero

Anpan is a Japanese sweet filled with red bean paste. Other fillings I have tried are chestnut, kuri, and sesame, goma. I read that this sweet – a sort of bun – dates from Meiji period, and it was first made in the 19th century. It is so tasty. And Anpanman is an anime adaptation of the picture book series published in the early 1970s. Both the books and the anime in more than 1000 episodes are very popular, so its reproductions are a very common sight in Japan. Anpan-man is a super character that comes to those in distress who call him. Hungry people can eat its head, which is replaced by a baker called Jamu Ojisan, Uncle Jam. It is a character famous only in Asian countries, and more episodes are coming out every year. These are some images of Anpanman, and the dessert called anpan.
