Noh Book - Script Of Utai

I showed some photos of a Noh play in the post on 13 August 2012. Noh is a form of musical drama performed since the 14th century. The main character wears a mask. The singing parts of Noh are called Utai. These are some pages of a book containing the chant performed on stage. This is how the “script” of a Noh play looks like. It includes drawings indicating the position of the body.

Himawari no Oka Koen is a lovely park, with lots of flowers and herbs. There is a nice lake inside the park, as well. It has an alley with stones for foot massage. It spreads over a large area and it is an ideal place for an outing.

Hittsumi Soup, Tono Restaurant, Iwate Prefecture

In the previous post, I showed some photos of the restaurant in Tono, the place where the Tono Tales were collected at the beginning of the 20th century. Here is a meal had at that restaurant. Hittsumi soup is a representative local dish of Iwate. The interesting element is that the dough is made of wheat flour – which is rare in Japan. It is handmade. In other areas of Japan, the dish is called suiton and tsumire. It is delicious.
