Chirashi Sushi And Home Meal, Takarazuka

Takarazuka is a city famous of the Takarazuka Revue, a musical theatre where women play even the male roles, then hot springs and posh residences.

I was very honoured to be invited by a family who lives there to enjoy talking and lunch together.

This is chirashi sushi. Making sushi may be intimidating for beginners. However, this "scattered sushi" is easy to make. The ingredients are simply layered on top of the rice. Any preferred ingredients may be added, and it is served at room temperature. The pink thing is fake sakura powder, used especially at spring time and for Hinamatsuri. It is used for a more attractive look. Other ingredients can be: dry shiitake mushrooms - hoshi-shiitake, fried tofu - age, gourd strips - kanpyou, carrot, bamboo shoot - takenoko, lotus root - renkon, shrimps, salmon roe - ikura, shredded seaweed - kizami nori. The pink powder is little sweet and it is called sakura-denbu. It is made of fish.

Gochisousama deshita!
Thank you so much for the nice memories.
