Tono - City Of Japanese Folklore, Iwate-ken
Tono preserves traditional culture and rural atmosphere, and it is famous for the Tales of Tono, a book written by Kunio Yanagida in 1910. There are many things to enjoy in the area - thatched roofs, the famous L-shaped houses called magariya dating from the 18th and 19th century, a special dish called hittsumi, some local festivals. These are some photos taken in Tono Furusato Village - houses and traditional tools of the past.
