Kayabuki No Sato – Thatched Roof Village

It is located 30 km north of Kyoto. There are about 250 thatched-roof houses and many of them are old dwellings where people still live. A visit here is a chance to experience the traditional feel of rural Japan. There is a museum as well, and also a shop selling delicious rice bread. I love the shape of these roofs, I am grateful to the friends who took me there.

  1. I feel like I’ve traveled through time by looking at those thatched roof villages. They’re kind of difficult to maintain though, and quite costly to repair or replace when damaged badly. Missie @ DeShazo Roofing
