Kurotani-cho, Ayabe City, Kyoto

This is the village I mentioned in yesterday's post. The workshop of Japanese traditional paper-making is held in such surroundings. This modestly looking village is designated Prefectural Intangible Cultural Asset. They continue to preserve the craft of making washi as it was done 800 years ago. It is a superb place. You can also see the plant called kouzo, paper mulberry.
