Kurotani is a paper-making village in Japan. Apart
from a museum and a shop, visitors can join a workshop and make washi
themselves. Washi is the Japanese traditional paper. Kurotani area is
rich in kouzo – paper mulberry, the main ingredient in making paper. Kurotani
washi has an 800-year history. The washi sensei is very welcoming
and eager to present in detail the paper technology. It is such a nice place,
and I am going to present the sights in tomorrow’s post. Today, some photos
taken during the preliminary presentation of the process of making washi.
I love washi and its texture, so plenty of photos tonight. (^_^)
