Kegon Falls – Kegon no taki – is the most famous among the 48 waterfalls in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. It is almost 97 m tall and it is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Japan. The best view is from the paid platform accessed by an elevator. An elevator started being operated here in 1930. I read that the name of the waterfall, Kegon, is from a Buddhist sutra. Drops of water are splashed at a distance, making it difficult to take photos.
