Circus is something one would very rarely come across (if at all) in Japan. It is simply un-Japanese. With their love and respect for nature, it can only be without animals. I was lucky to find one such street show in Kobe, in the area of western-style houses called Ijinkan. It was a surprise for the passers-by, yet many gathered to watch and enjoyed it. It was a simple show, still gracious and sprinkled with humour.
